November 24-26th, 2024

This is the first stop we consider to be TRULY vacation: Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. After all the adventures of the previous week and the countless kilometers covered, we just wanted to chill and do nothing! We ended up playing a game of golf, but other than that—no visiting, no sightseeing. Just long walks on the beach, enjoying the BEAUTIFUL weather, celebrating Meeko’s birthday… And we don’t feel guilty about it.

We had some stops before Myrtle Beach, in a Harvest Hosts (a winery) and a Hip Camp (someone’s backyard). Here are some photos:

Sometimes we tell ourselves, “Oh, we didn’t visit much in this or that area.” But we don’t have to. We’re on vacation — no stress, no obligation to do what every tourist does. We see wonderful things every day, we see weird things, and we see… well, memorable things. Things you can still tell stories about.

One example is when I went to pick up Meeko from a host (I had dropped him off at someone’s house that offered daycare services). Her husband gave me a long speech about how much he hates our truck and how much he loves his very old Toyota Tundra. I just stood there, listening to this guy passionately venting about how he hates the plastics in the new Tundra, the big screen/dash, the V6 engine and other things I didn’t bother remembering (or listening) — but basically hating everything about it. I stood there, half-listening, mostly wondering, What the heck is going through his mind to say all that stuff to a random stranger? I was truly baffled 🙂

It’s just one of those encounters you’ll remember. Man, he was passionate, it still makes me laugh! :))

On a different note, we really liked Myrtle Beach and wanted to stay longer at that campground. It was like a city in itself, with nearly 2,000 campsites, homes to rent, lot of things to do. They even have a postal office on the premises, you know, for those Amazon deliveries 🙂 We were oceanfront/ close to the beach, and we took long walks. The weather was perfect, a bit windy but warm. I even had to dig out my summer clothes 🙂

The game of golf was nice, we were lucky to have super nice weather (23C), after all the cold days of the past weeks.

Meeko really enjoyed the beach as usual. He loved to play in the sand and he would play in the water as well, if we would let him :)) Head to our YouTube channel for more videos and short movies.
