… or as people call it, “maiden voyage” or “first outing.” This expression is used to mark the first trip you take in your Airstream. For us, it was not just the “first outing” but also the first time (for Pascal) towing anything, the first time driving it through the city (we had to cross Montreal from West to East). It was the first time camping in a roulotte, the first time sleeping in separate beds (Airstream made an error and instead of sending us the queen bed we ordered, they sent a twin bed configuration). A lot of firsts.

First coffee, the next morning
Our first campground was Camping 15/30 in Saint-Philippe, Quebec. We took first few days to setup our basecamp, organize the cabinets, ordered firewood…

There was a lot of “tetris” done to organize it inside, in a way that it would fit our belongings and it would not feel too crowded.
Coming from a big home with a huge kitchen, we were concerned about how we would eat in the camper, if we would eat as well, or if it would be just spaghetti when it rains and steak when it’s sunny and we can BBQ. Turns out, we are eating well! We just had to adapt to the new reality, to the tiny kitchen counter, to not having a true oven, and to the smoke detector occasionally turning on when we make toast in the morning…
In the end: all is good!

We had to work from the camper:

Meeko experienced new things as well: running in a hockey rink, heavy rain and how to wear a raincoat (not really happy at the beginning, but he got used to it). He would also sleep in next to us by the fireplace: being a puppy is hard work 🙂
We had some amazing sunsets
That’s it! One amazing month spent in Camping 15/30. Amazing because frankly we didn’t know what to expect, a new beginning… that we ended up loving!
Cheers!
